Fort Moultrie and Fort Sumter

Two forts stand at the entrance of Charleston Harbor. Patriots inside a palmetto log fort, later named Fort Moultrie, defeated the Royal Navy in 1776.

Fort Sumter is located in the middle of Charleston Harbor, and is accessible by ferry rides through Fort Sumter Tours

In 1788, Charles Cotesworth Pinckney ceded the land to the City of Charleston for the express use as a public market, and he stipulated that the land must remain in use as a market for perpetuity.

To fulfill this requirement, the low buildings—sheds—that stretch from Market Hall to the waterfront were built between 1804 and the 1830s. These sheds originally housed meat, vegetable, and fish vendors.

Angel Oak Park

The Angel Oak Park is located on Johns Island where you can find what is known as A Lowcountry Treasure. It is considered to be the largest Live Oak Tree east of the Mississippi estimating to be 300 to 400 years old.
